Gifts of Artwork and Collectibles

.

You're considering a gift made during your lifetime > You hold collectible property that you no longer wish to display or maintain >You want to save both income and capital gains tax

We are receptive to gifts of artwork and collectibles that advance Douglass' mission and beautify the campus. Over the years, paintings, sculpture, crafts, and historic books and papers have all been given to the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College, and all of them have enriched her.

If you are considering such a gift, the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College will be able to guide you in determining if the pieces advance Douglass' mission – a requirement of the IRS to qualify your gift for a charitable deduction – and in securing an independent appraisal to establish the amount of your deduction.

Note that most gifts of artwork and collectibles are made outright. In rare cases, it may be possible for the donor to arrange for life income to be paid to her in return for the gift. However, significant tax considerations make it advisable for you to consult your advisors and our office before proceeding with such a plan.

If you are considering a gift of art or collectibles, email us, complete the personal illustration form, or call us at 732-246-1600 so that we can assist you through the process.
